Wapack Trail Race

Course Description:
The race is 17.5 miles. The course is an out-and-back that follows the Wapack Trail between New Ipswich, NH and Ashburnham, MA. There are four major mountains in between: Barrett, New Ipswich, Pratt, and Watatic, from north to south. Total climb is said to be about 3,700 feet. On a clear day, you can see for miles, including stunning views of Mt. Monadnock to the northwest, if you have the presence of mind. This is a very tough trail race. Don’t attempt it unless you are in excellent shape. The Wapack is generally well marked by yellow triangles that you will need to follow using your own powers of observation.
Registration
You can either apply on-line, using SignMeUp, by clicking the SignMeUp logo on the upper right of this page, or you can mail in the registration form from this website (get it from the menu to the left). Registration is $20 before Aug. 24th and $25 after that (including race day), which includes a technical t-shirt. You can also register on race day, but please do so by 8:45 am. The rest of the money goes to parking, water and Gatorade, light refreshments after the race, and a contribution to Friends of the Wapack, the group that keeps the trail maintained year after year.
The Wapack Trail Race is part of the NMC's Eastern New England Trail Race Series and the WMAC's Grand Tree Trail Race Series.
Aid and Refreshments
You are encouraged to carry your own water, food, gels, etc., during the race. There will be a water only stop on the dirt road near Binney Pond. There will be water, Gatorade, and some snacks at the turnaround point (at Rte. 119 in Ashburnham, MA), as well as basic medical supplies (bandaids, Vaseline, tape, etc.). There will be light food and refreshments at the finish line.
